NCSR “Demokritos” and the Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP) are carrying forward a joint initiative aimed at promoting scientific cooperation between South Korea and Greece in the field of Theoretical Physics.
Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2024, the Institute of Nuclear and Particle Physics (INPP) led by Dr. Christos Markou and the APCTP directed by Prof. Jae-Hyung Jeon have been actively organizing scientific events to promote research dissemination and collaborative research activities. In the context of the signed MoU, two joint scientific workshops have been successfully held, hosted by NCSR “Demokritos” in 2024 and by APCTP in 2025.
This year, scientists from both Institutes will once again gather in Greece for a full week of scientific discussions. The workshop will take place at NCSR “Demokritos” from 29 June to 3 July and will bring together distinguished senior and early-career researchers from both Institutes as well as from other Greek and European universities.
This edition of the workshop will further broaden the range of scientific expertise represented through the participation of researchers from the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (INN) and the Institute of Quantum Computing and Quantum Technology (IQCQT) of NCSR “Demokritos”, who will present the more theoretical aspects of their research. By fostering interdisciplinary dialogue, this event will be a great opportunity to strengthen existing ties but also to establish new strategic partnerships between NCSR “Demokritos” and APCTP.
The APCTP delegation will also include the head of its Academic Support staff, who will engage in discussions with key representatives of the Innovation Unit and the Communications Office of NCSR “Demokritos”. These meetings will foster exchange views on the major academic and research programmes of both institutions, share best practices, and identify new opportunities for strengthening cooperation.
