Since 2022, the National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos” implements a Gender Equality Plan, which focuses on the following priority areas-axes:
- Gender Equality in Organisational Culture, Leadership & Decision-Making Positions
- Gender Equality in Recruitment, Retention & Career Development
- Gender Mainstreaming in Research, Innovation & Education
- Work-Life Balance
- Preventing and Addressing Discrimination, Gender-Based Violence & Harassment
The Plan was formulated and is implemented under the responsibility of the Centre’s Gender Equality & Anti-Discrimination Committee -GEADC.
GEADC constitutes an advisory body to the organization and its governing bodies, based on article 58 of the 5019/2023 law. Its mission is to promote gender equality and combat all forms of discrimination and exclusion based on gender, race, ethnicity, religion or beliefs, health or disability status, age or sexual orientation, across all levels of the organization’s operations and activities.
The Committee aims at preventing and addressing discrimination, gender-based violence, sexual harassment and other forms of inappropriate behavior within the Center. For the completion of its mission and tasks, it is supported by active working groups from various Units and Institutes within NCSR ‘Demokritos’. Since April 2022, the Committee has also been a member of the National GEADC Network of Research Centres and Independent Research Institutes.
