NIH-NCSR “D” Research Career Transition Award Program

The National Center for Scientific Research "Demokritos" (NCSR "Demokritos") and National Institute of Health (NIH) of the United States of America entered into an agreement towards collaborative biomedical research and educational activities. The Participants stated their intention to cooperate in a collaborative training program called the NIH-NCSR “D” Research Career Transition Award Program (“Program”), which allows trainees to participate in the NIH Visiting Program as NIH Visiting Fellows (hereinafter referred to as "Fellows"). 

The Program consists of two phases, which last two to three years each. The first phase includes postdoctoral/career development training at NIH and the second, a research or faculty position at a university or research institute in Greece.

The National Center for Scientific Research (NCSR) "Demokritos" is the largest multidisciplinary research center in the country with substantial scientific research, technological and educational activities in the areas of: Health, Biology and Biotechnology, New Materials Micro & Nanotechnology, Environment - Energy and Sustainable Development, Information Technology & Telecommunications, Nuclear Physics & Elementary Particle Physics, Nuclear Technology & Radiation Protection, Cultural Heritage. All the activities are coordinated by the eight Institutes of the Center: 1) Biology, 2) Materials Science, 3) Microelectronics,4) Computer and Telecommunications, 5) Nuclear Engineering and Radiological, 6) Nuclear Physics, 7) Chemistry, 8) Radioisotopes and Radiopharmaceuticals
