Dr. Efstratios Stratikos Wins Glaxosmithkline’s 2015 Discovery Fast Track Challenge To Investigate Novel Cancer Immunotherapy Approaches

Athens, Greece - 04 March, 2016 - Dr. Efstratios Stratikos at the National Centre for Scientific Research Demokritos has been selected as a winner of GlaxoSmithKline plc’s (GSK) 2015 Discovery Fast Track Challenge, which is designed to accelerate the translation of academic research into novel therapies. Dr. Stratikos will partner with scientists in GSK’s Discovery Partnerships with Academia (DPAc) team to screen the target against GSK’s compound collection.  Active compounds could then form the basis of full drug discovery programmes that may ultimately lead to innovative medicines for cancer.

Dr. Stratikos is one of six challenge winners, chosen from 378 entries submitted from 21 countries across Europe and North America. Research between the National Centre for Scientific Research Demokritos and GSK will focus on developing novel immunotherapy approaches for cancer. The GSK announcement can be found here.
